Da Nang (pronounced “da-nang”) is one of the biggest cities in Vietnam with about 1 million residents. Itās renowned as being the most livable city in Vietnam, offering a rare combination of big city facilities, clean environment, laid-back beach vibes, delicious healthy food and being surrounded by nature.Ā
The closest city is Hue, just a two-hour drive or train ride away, while Hoi An is a 30-minute drive. Youāll stay a short driving distance from the beach and get to explore the scenic Han River and the Son Tra Peninsula nature reserve.

Our local team in Vietnam is dedicated to uplifting rural communities with a focus on education, empowerment and well-being for children and women. In areas where access to educational and economic opportunities is limited, our programs are designed to bridge these gaps and promote growth. We take a comprehensive approach, offering educational initiatives, vocational training, business support and mental health programs to meet diverse needs.
The local team has been fortunate to collaborate with over 110 volunteers from 36 countries. Together, we have reached more than 5,000 Vietnamese students with English language instruction and have supported over 70 ethnic minority women.
By providing entrepreneurial training, essential resources and mental health support, we assist individuals overcome challenges and break the cycle of poverty. Currently, we offer one volunteer program in Vietnam. Join our Teaching English program and make a real difference by helping young adults improve their English skills. Youāll be actively involved in leading engaging activities and providing personalised one-on-one tutoring, opening up new career and educational opportunities for students.
In this role, youāll assist with running interactive English classes and English Club sessions to boost students’ language abilities. Youāll also offer individualised support through one-on-one tutoring to build their confidence and fluency. Engage in cultural activities by facilitating debates and discussions on global topics, which will enhance both their language and critical thinking skills. Additionally, youāll create dynamic lesson plans and collaborate with local teachers to ensure your classes resonate with students.

Get ready for some seriously good eats! Meals are covered by the program, with a cook serving up tasty dishes. Breakfast could be anything from soy milk and yoghurt to cereals, fresh fruit or a sandwich. For lunch, think rice, tofu with tomato sauce, papaya salad, veggies, minced chicken, and fruit for dessert. Dinner is where it gets fun: enjoy Vietnamese crab noodle soup, rice, braised eggs with mushrooms, pumpkin soup, stir-fried veggies, spaghetti, spring rolls, and more. And yep, youāll always get some fruit to finish things off!
Dietary requirements such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and halaal can be accommodated if requested in advance.
Itās a good idea to consult your local doctor 4ā8 weeks before you join the program. They can provide updated advice on vaccinations and general health tips for travelling to Vietnam.
Stay aware in busy places like markets, train stations and tourist spots, where pickpocketing might occur. Be cautious when navigating the streets, especially with the motorbike traffic, and keep an eye on your personal belongings.
Vietnam is generally safe for travellers, though petty crimes like theft and scams can occasionally happen in popular tourist areas. To stay on the safe side, avoid accepting food or drinks from strangers to prevent any issues.
In central Vietnam, you’ll find the wet season running from September to December (21Ā°C to 30Ā°C), and the dry season stretching from January to August (21Ā°C to 33Ā°C).
To keep in touch with family and friends back home, itās smart to bring a network-unlocked phone. That way, you can purchase an eSIM in advance or grab a local SIM card when youāre in Vietnam. This lets you buy phone credit and stay in touch with everyone outside of Vietnam without a hitch.

Being fluent in English is a must, and you should be a high school graduate. Youāll get some basic training in teaching skills during the first few days of your stay to help you get up to speed.
